Loads of Love Appeal

Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Qld is once again partnering with Metro Care and the Loads of Love Appeal.

In 2016 we collected over 10 tonnes of food and distributed it to 800 families in our region. This year we are expecting to help 1,000 families and are hoping to collect 15 tonnes of food.

The Loads of Love Appeal runs from November 24 until December 22. Your donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries can be made at any of our 17 Lifeline retail stores, at our head office in Russell Street or our Distribution Centre in Stephen Street. You can also collect and return your Loads of Love bags to any of the 61 Heritage Bank branches across Southern Queensland.

Please help us reach our goal and ensure that everyone who needs our assistance receives it this Christmas.

Remember, 1kg can change a life.

Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland

See you at the Lights...

The Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland is one of Queensland’s biggest light extravaganzas now in its 15th year of bringing the joy and wonder of Christmas to the thousands of visitors and especially the children who pass through the gates every year.

Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld Ltd is an honoured and grateful beneficiary of this great event which runs from the 2nd to the 24th December.

Give the Gift of Time. The 2017 Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland committee is calling upon the Toowoomba community to get into the Christmas spirit and look at volunteering for this year’s event. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in sharing the Christmas spirit and watching the place we live and call home come alive.

LivingWork's ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid and the world's leading suicide intervention workshop. ASIST training concentrates on helping a person with thoughts of suicide to stay safe and seek further help. The workshop teaches participants to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide, provides them with the confidence to ask about suicide, and to work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. By learning to recognise and assess someone with thoughts of suicide, participants become more effective at helping people at risk.

This half-day training program teaches participants to be alert to suicide as a risk to people's lives and responsive when they detect the risk arising. The skills taught in safeTALK are designed to give participants a short, clear process that anyone over the age of 15yrs can follow to become a 'suicide alert helper' in their own community.

This two hour in-house presentation is designed to promote good mental health in the workplace. MINDfit aims to educate participants on how to identify and support someone with a mental illness as well as ways to improve their own mental health and well-being. Good mental health = good business.
